Are you using sunscreen that is safe for you and your children?

It is now quite hot here in Denmark; everybody is enjoying some time off work and having a nice day at the beach, in the garden, on the boat, or some other nice place outside.
I am guessing you use sunscreen. Hopefully not one from Vichy, Nivea or any of those available at the supermarket chemical cocktails!
You maybe useing one of the “safe” “parabener free” sunscreens that are organic or
With a Svanemæket. Below is an example of what is in the “safer” sunscreens in Denmark, Click on the green to see why this ingredient is harmful.

This is what a safe allergy minimal sunscreen with the svanemæket has in its ingredients:

Aqua, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Methylene Bis-Benzotriazolyl, tetramethylbutylphenol, Hydrogenated Dimer Dilinoleyl, Dimethylcarbonate Copolymer, Glycerin, Ceteareth-20, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Titanium Dioxide, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol,Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Diethylhexyl Carbonate, Polyglyceryl-6 ,polyhydroxystearate, Saccharide Isomerate, Ceteareth-12, Tocophero, Carbomer, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Benzoic Acid, ehydroacetic Acid

And one of the more expensive organic sunscreens:

Aqua (spring water), Isoamyl p-Methoxycinnamate (naturally-occurring UV-filter), *Helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, *Olea europaea (olive) oil, Titanium Dioxide (mineral UV-filter), Cetearyl alcohol (emulsifying plant wax), #*Elaeis guineensis (palm) oil, Cetearyl glucoside (corn and coconut wax extract), Glyceryl stearate (plant-derived), *Cera alba (bees wax), *Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) powder, *Chamomilla recutita (chamomile) extract, *Althaea officinalis (marshmallow) extract, *Camelia sinensis (green tea) extract, Daucus carota (carrot) seed oil, Gnaphalium leontopodium (edelweiss) extract, *Persea gratissima (avocado) oil, #Commiphora myrrha (myrrh) oil, *Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) extract, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin (preservative system), Citric acid (pH-modifier).  *82.22% organic. (#Fairly Traded).

As you can see these aren’t the safest products. I have only checked some of the ingredients not all.
My advice is to be very careful what sunscreens you use, as most sunscreens must contain some kind of sunblocking agent, to be able to hold the sun away.
My best advice would be to slip on a shirt, slap on a hat. And stay out of the sun when it is hottest between 1100 and 1430.
I personally use the Miessence outdoor balm (sunscreen) from Australia, check out EWG’s review here
